A Listener’s Guide to centrozoon

Here’s “A Listener’s Guide to centrozoon” that artist Whitney Leary compiled.

It’s made up from tour photos and excerpts of the round table discussion that Bernhard Wöstheinrich, Erik Emil Eskildsen, Lee Fletcher and I recorded for DEGEM’s web radio this summer. The background music is “Field 2” from our Lovefield album.

You can listen to or download the full one hour discussion here.

centrozoon & friends: a round table discussion

The centrozoon/Boner chat with Bernhard Wöstheinrich, Tobias Reber, Lee Fletcher and Erik Emil Eskildsen that we recorded for the DEGEM web radio is now archived on the iapetus-store.com Bandcamp site for free streaming/download (language: English; running time: 54’30”). You can also just play it here:

For more info on Boner see this blog entry about its making and this one for a run-down of how we’re financing the album (yes, that’s present tense - we’re still a little way from breaking even, so if you enjoy what we do and would like to contribute to our efforts we invite you to head over to www.centrozoon.de and order one of the exclusive packages.)

liner notes and credits

Around the time of the release of our album, “Boner”, DEGEM, the German Association for Electroacoustic Music, offered us a two hour slot on their web radio to showcase our album and its history. We opted for a round table talk with friends and collaborators of the band. Markus was unavailable at the time but participated by cutting up the recordings in a similar way to what we did with the music on “Boner”, and interspersed them with pieces from our album.

The version uploaded here is the discussion only. We invite you to listen to “Boner” and our previous albums at www.iapetus-store.com
[UPDATE January 5th, 2013: This recording is now accompanied by music off the “Boner” albums.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich (centrozoon)

Backup Aura Week - Day 4: radio interview 2010 (in German)

In July 2010 my former teachers Michael Harenberg and Valerian Maly interviewed me (in German) for the web radio of DEGEM, the German Association for Electroacoustic Music. We talked about “Backup Aura”, which was part of my MA thesis project, as well as my thinking about composing with the computer in general, which I’d written about in my thesis paper.

I’m very happy that we can now make this recording available below for the first time since it aired two years ago. Visit here for liner notes and to download it.

Backup Aura is also still available as a free download until the end of the week.

To celebrate the two year anniversary of its release, “Backup Aura” is available as a free download for the entire week with additional material posted daily on this blog. Download it at http://iapetus-store.com/album/backup-aura. Also see Monday’sTuesday’sWednesday’s blog entries for more information on the album and an audio interview in English.

centrozoon interview/feature airing at DEGEM.de

There’s a new two hour long feature on centrozoon currently airing at the web radio of the DEGEM, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Elektroakustische Musik (German Society for Electroacoustic Music) which is hosted by the ZKM in Karlsruhe, Germany. It’s airing about once every 8-10 hours during the whole of August and September. You can look up the schedule here (we are feature B) and listen at www.degem.de - just click play on the website’s stream player.

The feature is made up of excerpts of a Skype chat that Bernhard and I had with centrozoon collaborator and “Boner” mastering engineer Lee Fletcher and our friend Erik Emil Eskildsen. We got the chance to talk about our band, our current music and out thoughts about it. Markus edited the discussion and interspersed it with music from centrozoon’s “Boner (MF Version)”. We will make the feature available as a download once it goes off air in October.

Thanks to Michael Harenberg at DEGEM for offering us the slot.
